Mission

To compile Bonneville County property ownership records in support of assessment and public inquiry.

Vision

The ever-increasing number of parcels, plus the increasing demand for information, requires that the Assessor’s Office first meet the expectation of the public at large, of the county’s land information community, and of its local governments for accurate, precise, timely information about land ownership and boundaries.

Philosphy

We believe that the public should be served in a caring, timely, and open manner, and that we should cooperate with other mapping entities whenever possible.

Duties

According to the provisions in Idaho Code Title 63 Chapter 2 and rules promulgated by the state tax commission the Platting/Mapping Department compiles property ownership records in support of assessment and public inquiry by preparing full, accurate and complete plat records of all parcels of real property within the county.

In order to comply with the above statement the Platting/Mapping Department processes recorded documents that transfer ownership of property, which includes platted lots within subdivisions and un-platted lots that have a metes and bounds description. Sometimes the recorded documents may require a split in the property or more than one property being combined.

It is the duty of the Platting/Mapping Department to keep accurate documentation of the ownership of the property within the county and map all parcels of real property. All maps in Bonneville County are computerized and maintained as such. There is Mapping Parcel Manager software to maintain the ownership records.

It is also the duty of the Platting Department to assign a parcel number to each parcel of real property pursuant to a uniform numbering system established by the state tax commission. Each parcel number is used to identify the parcels. The parcel numbers are used on all records in the county offices and appear on the assessment and tax notices.  The ever-increasing number of parcels, plus the increasing demands for information, requires that the Assessor’s office first meet the expectation of the public at large, of the county’s land information community, and of its local governments for accurate, precise, timely information about land ownership and boundaries. It is the Assessor’s Platting/Mapping Departments staff’s belief that the public should be served in a caring, timely, and open manner, and that they should cooperate with other mapping entities whenever possible
