Casualty loss Exemption


Pursuant to Idaho Code 63-602X real and personal property which has been damaged by an event such as fire that causes a casualty loss to all or a portion of the property may qualify for a casualty loss exemption.

Application is made with the board of equalization, consisting of the County Commissioner’s and is reviewed and granted on a case-by-case basis. If the exemption is granted it shall be for the year in which the property has been damaged or destroyed. Application must be made in writing on the form provided by the county. The form is available in the County Commissioner’s Office located at 605 N Capital Ave on the 1st floor of the court house or the pdf form link is listed below.
